Whatever your objective, the essential rule in campaigning is that you should never base your work on your own assumptions, but instead conduct research to investigate your target group.

This is the case even when you try to mobilise your own community, most of whom are not activists like you and will react very differently to messages that you personally might find very convincing yourself.
