Let’s start with a short recap of our free online course on narrative building. If you are not familiar with the content, we strongly suggest that you follow this course. It will take about 2 hours and will prove essential for all your campaigning work now and in future.
The narrative is the “deeper meaning” behind what we see or hear (the actual message), the assumptions we hold, which will condition the way we understand a message. It is the “ice” that is under the surface. It can’t be seen directly but it is the force upon which the “tip” relies.
Without the mass of the iceberg below, the tip wouldn’t emerge above the surface of the water. Without narratives, messages get lost.
