Be careful of “saviour” narratives.
Highlighting support from allies is crucial to underline the narrative that there is broad social support for SOGIESC diversities, but placing the sole emphasis on the need for “external” help will reinforce the narrative that LGBTQI+ people are weak and defenceless. Portraying individual “heroes” also reinforces the liberal narrative focused on the individual (which Hollywood is essentially based on), over the power of the collective and community-based care.

Don’t isolate Conversion Practices from other violence.
Showing the harm that Conversion Practices inflict is crucial, but by treating this without looking at the bigger picture of systemic violence against all that diverges from mainstream norms reinforces the narrative that this issue is “special”, which allows unconvinced audiences to easily default into a status quo attitude.
Instead, link them to broader patterns of stigma, shame, and social control. The reference to “corrective” rape of Lesbian women for example can act as an important eye-opener of the nature of Conversion Practices, which are very much akin to other forms of violence against women.
